  1. A lot of thoughts have been popping up in my head lately. Here they are, in no particular order.

Whatever we as individuals feel is our purpose, our reason to be, our destiny, our fate, whatever we call it, we are beings of reason and spirit. With free will, we have the opportunity to make our lives meaningful, purposeful, positive, and loving, no matter what misfortune and negativity goes on around us. It’s our choice.

The ACIM describes love as our natural “inheritance”, and that the opposite of love is fear. Simply stated, love encompasses positives, such as gratitude, forgiveness, understanding, and compassion. Fear, the opposite of love, includes negatives such as anger, judgment, envy, and greed. The ego is the dominant feature in fear and the fear-based spectrum of thought and behavior.

Needless to say, I think we’re here to love, to live a positive, purposeful life. That’s the simple bottom line for me. Not too complicated, eh? I’ve heard it said that we’re here to learn and to make a difference. I’ll accept that gladly. I am a simple guy, which, for me is perfect. For whatever reason, my energy seems to be usually positive, which certainly makes my life journey much easier and more fun.

  2. I’ve been presented lately with many interpersonal observations that I’ve been able to make, both about myself and others, an opportunity to see first-hand my life’s equivalent of sitting at the airport and watching the world go by. A front row seat to this sometimes chaotic thing we call life, and the opportunity to positively put my two cents in…

Becoming a grandparent has been really cool, as I’ve discovered a new, different form of love that I hadn’t experienced before. A grandchild has given me an opportunity to give experience unconditional love, as I have very, very little to do with my grandchild’s upbringing, I’m simply a spectator. It’s very different from raising my own kids, and very sweet and beautiful.

A learning situation recently came up for me, that was another ah-hah moment. A friend broke off a relationship because the two couldn’t synergistically make the necessary compromises to make their relationship work. We all vibrate at differing levels, and the vibration is a major part of the initial attraction process. As time went on, the couple decided that the partnership wouldn’t work, which is a good thing to recognize, but painful of course.

    More later.
